Marlane was born in Allentown, PA; attended schools in Salisbury Township School
District, received a Bachelor of Science in Education with Library Science as
area of concentration from Kutztown State College (now Kutztown University),
attended Muhlenberg College for religion credits to receive certification from
the Lutheran Church in America as a Parish Educator and Youth Worker (now
considered a rostered lay leader-Associate in Ministry-in the ELCA), received a
Masters of Arts in Theological Studies from Moravian Theological Seminary
taking Lutheran courses at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia;
have been teaching Sunday Church School since the day of my confirmation;
started working as a youth in a refreshment stand at the neighboring auction
house, baby sitting for neighbors, helping an elderly neighbor with housework,
in a nursing home as a recreational therapist, making waffles and pancakes at
Pet Milk Co, started a PreSchool in my home congregation all this was before
working as a paid leader in the Church. Marlane has served St. Paul's,
Catasauqua as a Parish Educator and Youth Workers; St. Paul's, Allentown as
Parish Worker; St. Luke's, Reading as Director of Christian Education; St.
Timothy's, Allentown as Volunteer Coordinator; St. Mark's, Allentown as Director
of Christian Education; St. John's, Easton as Pastoral Assistant ; and currently
St. Paul's, Douglassville as Christian Education Coordinator. Volunteer for
more than thrity years for Northeastern PA Synod Learning Ministry Team,
currently Synod Book of Faith Advocate and President of Southeast Berks Chapter
of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
Marlane was the primary caregiver for
her mother who lived with MS. Her mother was born in Haarlem, the Netherlands
and still has family living in Holland. Her father was a lifelong resident of
Allentown. This means Marlane is truly PA Dutch! "For all who are led by the
